2022 Top 25, 2022 Winners, 2nd Place, Automotive

Water Color Image size 35′ W x 13.75″ H. I saw this E-Type Jaguar Coupe at the Hershey car show a few years ago. The combination of an overnight rainfall and dramatic pre-dawn lighting drew me in.

“Heaven”

John Albert Murphy

2022

2022 Top 25, 2022 Winners, 3rd Place, Handcrafted

“Heaven” is a slip-cast porcelain vessel assembly created from original clay form plaster molds, during the Pandemic lockdown, in mid-2020. It is a work about fantasizing about being removed from the trials and tribulations brought on by the Corona Virus and all the complications involved, and returning home, to Heaven. The porcelain clay is glazed using masking tape stenciling for the geometric designs and glaze fired to cone 6 in oxidation. The centerpiece egg form and small splashes of glaze on select “window panes” on the inside surfaces of the vessel forms have gold luster glaze (containing real gold) applied, referencing “streets paved with gold.”

2022 Top 25, 2022 Winners, 3rd Place, Photography

Many homeless people in Dhaka have lost their homes and properties due to frequent floods, river erosion, and other natural calamities. They were forced to migrate to the city in search of a better future. These people have no place to take shelter in big cities. Their day starts in dump streets and ends on roads or boats to nowhere. The concrete-covered street and boats are a flower bed for these refugees who practically do not have any identity. They live by working as street hawkers, boatmen, labourers, and doing other odd jobs. Dhaka, Bangladesh.

“Blueprint: The Coupe”

Christopher Piscitelli

2022

1st Place, 2022 Top 25, 2022 Winners, Automotive

“Blueprint'” was a piece that came about when I found an old technical drafting of a Ford Model A coupe. Being an automotive designer here in the metro Detroit area by trade, and a hot rodder by nature, I love the idea of both what the original intention of a mass-produced product like a car is, versus the lengths that people go to make it their own. It’s a true mix of art and design. In this piece, which is a mix of pen sketch and digital rendering, you can see the vast difference in proportion from what rolled off of Henry’s line to what was probably seen ripping down Woodward not long after.

Into the Light

James J. Rodriguez

2022

2022 Top 25, 2022 Winners, 2nd Place, Handcrafted

A figure is seen moving out of a void into bright light. It is a metaphor for life and represents hope and moving forward. It was painted on an 18 x 24 canvas with oil paints over acrylic undertones. It is one in a series of paintings about our journey through life.
