Gateway to Berlin

Berlin maintains scars of its time as the epicenter of East/West conflict. Tempelhof airport was the lifeline of Berlin during the Berlin Airlift and remained a lifeline throughout the Cold War. The airport was home to both commercial and military traffic until its closure in the 2000s. Once a place of great tension, Tempelhof airfield has been reborn as a museum and public park. This image is perhaps what an expectant traveler might see as he or she awaits boarding in the heyday of Tempelhof.
