“Heaven”

By John Albert Murphy
“Heaven” is a slip cast porcelain vessel assembly created from original clay form plaster molds, during the Pandemic lockdown, mid 2020. It is a work about fantasizing of being removed from the trials and tribulations brought on by the Corona Virus and all the complications involved, and returning home, to Heaven. The porcelain clay is glazed using masking tape stenciling for the geometric designs and glaze fired to cone 6 in oxidation. The centerpiece egg form and small splashes of glaze on select “window panes” on the inside surfaces of the vessel forms have gold luster glaze (containing real gold) applied, referencing “streets paved with gold”.
