Property Relations / Water Is Life

Multi-color spray enamel pochoir portrait of civil-rights activist Rosa Parks. This 10-color stencil is printed on salvaged Detroit property-zoning public announcement. There are collage embellishments in the background. The number 1619 is substituted for 7053, Mrs. Parks arrest number during the the 1955 Montgomery Bus Boycott. 1619 is a contemporary reference to the New York Times controversial 1619 Project launched by Nickole Hannah-Jones in 2019.
