This painting is all about movement- with wind whipping through the woman’s hair, her hat balancing on her fingertips and her face turned up joyfully towards the sunny sky. She is relishing in all of these glorious sensations. This painting begs the question ‘Why not take the long way home tonight?’ During Covid, car rides were many peoples only chance of escape from the confines of their homes. I feel automobiles are not just tools to get from point A to point B, but they can also bring us a real sense of wonder, freedom and exploration.
