My large 24 x 30 inch oil painting represents a snapshot of today’s urban teen, who is radiant in the morning sun, and glowing with the vitality of youth. The staircase rising up to meet the sunrise represents the resurgence of her city. The iconic Oakland Towne Center building is seen in the background, with its unique Art Deco style, representing Pontiac and all that this eclectic and creative historic city embodies. I used many layers of oil paint and palette knives to add texture throughout the painting and most specifically to her pants and socks. I created my artwork to speak of vitality, resurgence and growth, and the next generation’s impact. I have personally grown up and lived near Pontiac all my life and have many personal and philanthropic ties to this amazing city. It would be an honor to have my artwork help beautify the downtown area and be a part of the flourishing art culture here.
